How to use Gmail Customizable Layouts
You can send more professional-looking emails inside and outside of your organization (for select Google Workspace editions only) to create branded emails and use customizable layouts. The Custom Layout feature allows you to quickly and easily create announcements, newsletters, and other mass-email scenarios.

Gmail Customizable Layout
🏢 The Custom Layout feature is on by default but is available only to select Google Workspace editions. Learn more.
Note: This feature is only available for Gmail on the web at this time.
The Custom Layout feature allows you to select from a predefined set of email layouts, which feature images, text elements, and buttons. You can further customize these layouts with your own color schemes, logos, images, footer text, and links.
To create professional-looking emails using the Custom Layout feature:
Once Gmail is open, click Compose.
Click Layouts.
The Layout pop-up window will appear.
If it’s your first time using Layouts (or if you need to edit your layout), click Default styling. Otherwise, skip to Step 6.
Enter the details to build your brand/design. You can customize your layout with:
- Logos, colors, and fonts
- Footer Details
- Links
Once done with your customization, click Save changes.
After you’ve scanned the available layouts, select your preferred layout by clicking the Insert button.
Add the relevant content for your subject and body of the email (including merge tags to personalize each email).
It’s possible to reuse (copy and paste) buttons in Gmail Layout feature.
You can either hard-code URLs directly within the button editor for static links.
Or you can use {{merge tags}} to use dynamic links that will fetch the appropriate URL for each recipient row.
Note: When choosing dynamic links using {{merge tags}}, you must remove the http prefix in your URL column entries. This is because Gmail automatically adds http to its buttons.
