Install apps in your domain (admin only)

In this tutorial, we will guide admins in installing Mergo and help them make it available to everyone or only to users in a particular department or team.

🏢 This article is intended for Google Workspace administrators

In this article

An  administrator (admin) is a person who manages Google services or devices for a company, school, or group. As an admin, you can control which Google Workspace Marketplace apps are available to users in your company or school. You can make an app available to everyone or only to users in a particular department or team.

Step 1: Set the organizational structure

Info: Skip this step if you want to make an app available to everyone in your organization.

To make an app available to only some users, first, put their user accounts in an organizational unit or in an access group. Then, you can distribute the app only to those teams. For detailed instructions, please visit:

Step 2: Make Mergo available to users

If Mergo is on your Google Workspace Marketplace allowlist, users can install it, even if you don't provide access to Mergo with the steps below. For details, see our section on Allow users to install Mergo by themselves (while controlling which apps they can install).

A. Install Mergo for all users in your domain

Choose this option if everyone in your organization will be using Mergo.

1

Open the Google Workspace Marketplace > search for Mergo > click the Mergo card.

2

Click Admin install

Note: If you don't see an Admin install button, then you are not logged in using an admin account or you could be logged in using several Google accounts. To remedy this, log in using an admin account.

3

A modal window informs that you're about to do a Domain-wide install. Click CONTINUE.

4

Review our data access requirements (scroll to view the full list), Terms of Service, and Privacy Policy

(A) Choose the target users - we chose the entire domain ( Everyone at your organization) in this example.
(B) Check the agreement box.
(C) Click FINISH

Have questions about our data access requirements? Check the Data access section in our Privacy Policy.

5

Mergo is now installed for the entire domain! Click DONE

Note: Changes might take up to 24 hours to propagate to all users. (This is a conservative timeframe, but it's usually way faster - even nearly instant.)

B. Install Mergo for users in a specific Organizational Unit/s (OU)

Choose this option if you want to deploy Mergo to a single Organizational Unit (OU) or to several OUs (e.g., install Mergo just for your HR department, for both your IT & Legal team, ...).

Follow steps 1 - 3 detailed in section A - Install Mergo for all users in your domain.

4

Review our data access requirements (scroll to view the full list),  Terms of Service, and Privacy Policy

(A) Choose Certain groups or organizational units Select users in the next step.
(B) Check the agreement box.
(C) Click NEXT.

5

Click the Select organizational units dropdown menu.
> Select the relevant OU(s) (we chose Tech Support in this example).
> Click SELECT.
> Click FINISH.

6

Mergo is now installed for the Tech Support OU! Click DONE

Note: Users in other OUs will not be able to install Mergo unless you add it to your allowlist.

C. Install Mergo for specific groups

⚠️ This feature is not available to Google Workspace Essentials customers.

Choose this option if you want to deploy Mergo for specific groups in your organization using the new admin-install functionality (formerly known as domain-install). Previously, admin-installing applications from the Google Workspace Marketplace was only possible for organizational units or an entire domain. Learn more.

This is useful in situations where only a subset of your users need to have the app installed, for example, CRM applications required for your sales and marketing groups or e-signature applications required for your legal teams.

Follow steps 1 - 3 detailed in section A - Install Mergo for all users in your domain.

4

Review our data access requirements (scroll to view the full list),  Terms of Service, and Privacy Policy

(A) Choose Certain groups or organizational units. Select users in the next step.
(B) Check the agreement box.
(C) Click NEXT.

5

Click the Select groups search-dropdown menu.
> Choose or enter the relevant group(s) (we chose/entered  Folgo and Mergo in this example).
> Click FINISH.

6

Mergo is now installed for the Folgo and Mergo teams! Click DONE

D. Allow users to install Mergo by themselves (while controlling which apps they can install)

Choose this option if you want to deploy apps initially intended to specific users (OU), while allowing other users to install individually - only as needed (avoiding unnecessary domain-wide installation).

Enable the Allowlist feature

1

From the Admin console Home page, click Apps (A) > Google Workspace Marketplace Apps (B) > Settings (C).

2

Under Manage access to apps, choose Allow users to install and run only selected apps from the Marketplace > SAVE.

Add apps to the Allowlist

1

From the  Admin console Home page, click Apps (A) > Google Workspace Marketplace Apps (B) > Apps list (C).

2

Click Google Workspace Marketplace allowlist.

3

At the top, click Add app to allowlist.

4

Enter  Mergo (A).
Then hover on Mergo (A) > click ADD TO ALLOWLIST (B).

5

Mergo is now listed in your Allowlist and individual users can install it.
