Why YouTube Links in Emails Are Not Tracked for Click Rates
Users may notice that when they include a YouTube link within an email sent through Mergo, the click on that link does not contribute to the click rate statistics. This is an intentional design choice to support Gmail's YouTube preview feature. Gmail users benefit from being able to watch YouTube videos directly in their inbox without leaving the email environment, thanks to a thumbnail preview among email attachments.
To maintain this user-friendly functionality, Mergo does not track clicks on links that contain the domain name youtube.com
. For those who wish to track click rates on YouTube links, a simple workaround is to use the shortened youtu.be
domain in your links. For example, change https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsA6DB2Xie0
to https://youtu.be/lsA6DB2Xie0
. This will allow Mergo to track the link as it would with any other URL, except for those containing youtube.com
.
